Mr. Qureshi, joined the firm in the year 2005 and chosen the area of practice relating to Cooperatives, Housing, Construction and Constitutional Laws. Mr. Abdul Wahid Qureshi with the help of qualified and efficient team of young lawyers has introduced new icons in the development of laws by Assisting the courts of competitive jurisdiction as well as law making institutions and authorities like Standing Committees of the Senate of Pakistan, National Assembly and Government Authorities seized with making or amendment of laws for Cooperative Sector, Development of Cities, Housing and Building and thus contributed towards various amendments in the Societies Registration Act, 1860, repeal of Cooperative Societies Rules, 1927 to the extent of the Islamabad Capital Territory and promulgation of Islamabad Cooperative Societies Rules, 2018. Similarly, Mr Qureshi Assisted the Islamabad High Court in striking down the Islamabad Capital Territory Cooperative Societies (Managing Committees Election) Rules, 2004 and helped the Cooperative Societies Department in making of the Islamabad Cooperative Societies Election Rules, 2014. Thereafter, Islamabad Cooperative Societies Election Rules, 2019 were notified as the result of Writ Petition (W.P-711-2018) Filed by Mr. Qureshi in the Islamabad High Court, Islamabad. Recognizing legal assistance and services of Mr. Qureshi in Development of Cooperative Laws, the Cooperative Department Islamabad presented him a souvenir and appreciation certificate in the year, 2018. Mr. Qureshi also assisted the courts of competitive jurisdiction in development of laws on Capital Value Tax in respect of Cooperative Societies, Housing Sectors and also assisted the Honourable High Courts in developing laws on planning and development within the territorial jurisdiction of the Capital Development Authority (CDA). There are number of judgments reported in the Law journals which have been delivered by the courts of competitive jurisdiction with the assistance of Mr. Qureshi and his legal team. Iftikhar is a practicing lawyer with the standing of over 28 years; during this period, he inter alia served as Legal Advisor Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) and Director Legal & Corporate Affairs at wi-tribe Pakistan Limited, where he was responsible for all the legal/ regulatory and corporate affairs. Mr. Iftikhar providedlegal opinion/advice on matters as referred to him from various departments on the regulatory issues,Rules & Regulations related to telecommunications,licenses’ compliance, Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan(SECP), NEPRA etc. managed outside legal councils’ assistance /support for the Company on all litigation matters whenever required and oversees/follows up the legal cases in various courts of law. In addition,he also had the portfolio of Company Secretary to deal with /handle Board matters, annual general meetings(AGMs) of the Company, and connected matters.
Iftikhar carries over 28 years of experience in legal matters from prominent telecom companies and other organizations.While working for Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), he also handled the affairs of its subsidiaries like Pakistan Telecom Mobile Ltd(Ufone),Paknet Ltd, Carrier Telephone Industries (CTI), Telephone Industries of Pakistan (TIP).
Iftikhar was also part of the expert group that worked with the foreign consultants,M/s McCarthy & Analysis Consortium, hired by the GOP,during the study of the Pakistan Telecom Sector and the Government’s De-regulation Policy. He has also been at the panel of Legal Experts of International Telecommunication Satellite Organization (ITSO) from 2002-06. He also remained an Independent Non-Executive Director at the Board of various Companies; hekept this portfolio with M/s Cherat Cement Company Limited for about 08 years.
Iftikhar has had an international education from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK, in Information Technology & Telecommunication Laws.
